Peniocereus

Peniocereus is a genus of dozen species of vining cactus from the southwestern USA and Mexico. They have a large underground tuber, and the stem are thin and inconspicuous. Most species are considered rare, but this might be partially due to the fact that they are difficult to see as the stems are twisted in shrubs. Some of its species have been classified in the genus Wilcoxia.

Peniocereus have large nocturnal flowers in summer, and several species are known as 'Queen of the Night'.
