Ambrosia

Ambrosia contains a small number of species of shrubs and annuals from the southwestern USA, and Mexico. Collectively called bursage, or ragweed. The name Ambrosia comes from the Greek for "immortal".
Only 2 species are commonly used in xeriscape gardens. Both are evergreen shrubs with grey leaves, very drought resistant. One drawback is the burs, extremely spiny fruits, that attach to animals and clothes. Another drawback is the large production of pollen, responsible for allergies.
